Seminar on Red Palm Weevil in Al-Kharj on 28/11/1430H
A seminar on the “Integrated Management of Red Palm Weevil” to guide and advise the farmers will be held on Monday 28/11/1430 H (16/11/2009 G) and the Red Palm Weevil Research Chair (RPWRC) is participating in it on the invitation of HE Mr. Ibrahim ben Saad Al daaj, Director General, Al-Kharj in Nagaan Secondary School. A lecture on the “Red Palm Weevil and Methods of Control” will be delivered by HE Prof. Dr. Saleh ben Abdallah El-Dosary, the professor of pesticides in faculty of Food Science and Agriculture, King Saud University, and supervisor of the chair. An open meeting will be hold with the farmersafter the lecture in order to make them aware of measures that are to be taken to reduce the incidence of this devastating alien scourge. After the lecture a specialized exhibition about this insect will be held, so as to explain the identification of various stages of the red palm weevil, biology, damage and other related aspects. During the seminar the role of the RPWRC and its relevance to the Saudi Society will be discussed.News about the launch of the new website www.rpwrc-ksu.org / www.rpwrc.ksu.edu.sa and the details about the information included therein for the benefit of farmers will be explained to the gathering.
