Under the patronage of His Excellency Zareb Qahtani, Deputy of Governor of the Eastern Province, the Directorate of Agriculture has organized a workshop on “Red Palm Weevil Damage and its Impact on Environment and Economy”. The workshop was inaugurated with a speech by His Excellency Saad Bin Abdullah Al Muqbal, Director General of Agriculture, Eastern Province, Dammam. Three scientific sessions were held during the workshop.
On behalf of Red Palm Weevil Research Chair, King Saud University, Prof. Dr. Polana Vidyasagar, Chair Professor, presented a scientific paper titled as, "Global perspective on the trepidations of Red Palm Weevil Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Oliv and innovative approaches for its sustainable management". The third session of the workshop was chaired by Prof. Dr. Saleh Bin Abdullah Al-Dosari, Director of RPWRC.
The participation by the RPWRC, KSU in the workshop is another step in the direction of cooperation with various branches of the Ministry of Agriculture in the Kingdom. These activities will help in the realization of the vision of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdurrahman Al Othman, President, and His Excellency Prof. Dr. Ali Bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, Vice-President, Knowledge Exchange and Transfer of Technology, towards KSU's Global Leadership through partnership to build a knowledge-based society.
